MONDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY:A new short-term study, Beliefs Matter, began on Monday, 31 March, and will run for eight weeks, concluding Monday, 2 June (we will not meet on 5 May or 26 May). Author Charles Yrigoyen serves as General Secretary of the General Commission on Archives and History of The United Methodist Church. He is also adjunct professor of church history at the Theological and Graduate Schools of Drew University. Yrigoyen states, “This book is written for two purposes. The first is to remind us that what we believe does matter. The second is to explain the doctrinal standards of the United Methodist Church – matters of belief. Participants’ books are $10 each. In mid-June a new study will begin. Introduction to the Old Testament is an eight week study from the makers of Disciple. For more information watch upcoming bulletins, call the office, or speak to Rev. Allen. Sunday Evening Small Group Bible Study Do you enjoy fun, fellowship, and Biblical learning? Come to the small group study at Jack and Rosemary Hoffman’s house on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30. The new study is called The Journey—Exodus. New people are always welcome. Hoffmans live at 224 Windsor Drive, Mineral Wells. If you have any questions you may call them at 489-2970. Lectionary Study The purpose of a Lectionary Study is just that—to study the weekly lection (Scripture passages) for the coming Sunday. Each week participants will take one hour to consider the Old Testament, Psalter, Epistle, and Gospel lections scheduled to be used in worship the following Sunday. The desired outcome is usually achieved. That is, from prelude to postlude, those involved almost invariably find their experience and appreciation of worship deepened. The group meets from 11:00 to noon on Friday mornings. By the way, bring your Bible. If you have questions or seek more information contact the pastor. The church van and driver will be available for anyone who needs a ride. Please contact the church office (428-0111) if you would like to be chauffeured to the study and lunch. United Methodist People in Prayer Did you hear what I heard? The United Methodist People in Prayer teams have been meeting at Stout Memorial, First, and St. Andrew’s churches since November!
It’s been exciting to corporately talk to God and very uplifting for everyone involved. What a blessing to see God’s work in action and share in answered prayer!
